archery for beginners

In order to join a target archery club you have to complete a beginners course.

This course covers shooting techniques and - most importantly - the safety protocols and etiquette of archery.

You will also learn about different bow types and forms or archery.

At Silver Arrow we run regular courses consisting of four two-hour sessions running over consecutive weeks.  The cost of the course is £70.

If you cannot make the set dates, we can run a one-to-one beginners course.  This can be run over four one-hour sessions, or if you have a long way to travel we can run it over two two-hour sessions.  These can be arranged at times to suit you.  The cost is £120.

If you are not sure if you want to commit to a full course, then come along for a taster session.  You can have a go for 45 minutes to see if you like it and then make your decision about a course.  Price: £15

The minimum age for beginners courses is normally 8-10 years - this depends on maturity and strength, so some 8 years will be fine, others may need to wait a little while.  If in doubt we are happy to carry out a quick assessment before the start of the course.   Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian throughout the course.  It is acceptable for the parent/guardian to take the course at the same time.

There is no maximum age - the oldest person we have taught on our beginners courses so far was 82.

Archery is a very accessible sport and therefore we are happy to teach people of almost all physical abilities.   If you have a medical condition that you think may affect your archery, just let us know and we will do our best to ensure you can shoot.
