Insurance

In order to shoot, you need insurance. You can get this by becoming a member of one of the archery governing bodies

- the Grand National Archery Society (GNAS) recently re-named Archery GB for target archery
Or
- the English Field Archery Association (EFAA) or the National Field Archery Society (NFAS) for field archery.
Or
Joining Silver Arrow Archery Club which has its own insurance

Joining an archery club

Look for an archery club in your area.

Here at Sparrow Hall Farm, we are home to Silver Arrow Archers (Archery GB) www.silverarrowarchers.co.uk

We also have our own club

In Hemel Hempstead there is Hemel Hempstead Archers (Archery GB)
www.hemelhempsteadarchers.co.uk

In Beaconsfield there is Whitemark Bowmen (EFAA)
Whitemark

In Westcott there is Westcott Archers (Archery GB and NFAS)
Westcott

We would recommend visiting the club and meeting the members before you join. Each club has a different way of working and a different “personality”. So see which one you feel most comfortable with. If you are thinking of enrolling any junior members - check out the club’s policy and support mechanisms for youngsters.

Where to next? Clubs

Once you have completed your beginners course, it is a good idea to join an archery club.

This gives you some structure for your shooting and also allows you to mix with other archers who can teach you a lot about the sport and introduce you to competitions, etc.
